Joint CPD – school based practice sharing twilights

unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved”

Mattie Stepanek

The vision and ethos underpinning the CTSA is one of collaboration and sharing best practices/ideas and this was evident at our recent Joint CPD week (19th – 23rd November 2018) when member schools opened their doors to alliance partners. Sessions covered a range of curriculum areas (How to raise standards in writing; Using Ipads in the classroom; Oracy across the curriculum; Mantle of the Expert- EYFS) as well as staff wellbeing with a Yoga Workshop for stress management and mindfulness. Other members were inspired by the opportunity to look at Engineering in the Primary Classroom from both a practical and theoretical perspective.

The beauty of the Joint CPD week is that teachers can attend as many sessions as they like, selecting from a menu of topics that are most relevant to their individual needs or interests. Many of the sessions involve group discussion opportunities and a chance to network and develop significant and worthwhile professional relationships – it really illustrates our vision of ‘working together to be better’

Feedback is already showing these joint sessions are invaluable for forging closer links between partner schools and sharing ideas. Visiting other schools always provides opportunities to ‘magpie’ new ideas and techniques.

Plans are already in progress for the next Joint CPD week scheduled for early spring; we are anticipating an eclectic mix of topics as we encourage our schools to be brave and creative with their ideas! Watch this space …..

Enjoyable and relatable – thank you!”
